When should I pause before scheduling?
Have the sore joint examined before you schedule a procedure. Knee soreness can begin with trouble in your hip or back.
The exam checks the joint, nearby muscles and your movement. It also shows whether simpler care needs more time.
Which joint changes need urgent help?
Get urgent care for fever with swelling and unusual heat in a joint. Sudden inability to stand or an obvious shape change also needs fast help.
New weakness or numbness with back pain can't wait. Loss of bladder or bowel control also needs quick medical care.
Tell your doctor about aches that wake you at night. Mention new bone pain, past cancer or weight loss without a reason.
After a procedure, call about leaking fluid or redness that spreads. Worsening pain, calf swelling or weakness also needs prompt help.
What health issues must I mention first?
Tell your doctor about infection, bleeding trouble or current cancer care. Any of these can change whether a joint procedure is safe.
List each medicine you take, including blood thinners. Don't alter a prescription until the doctor responsible for it agrees.
Explain how the joint limits daily life. Pain at rest, a changed joint shape or poor movement may call for a surgery visit.
Repeating procedures can delay surgery or care that suits the joint. Ask for a plain reason behind the offered procedure.
What questions protect me from a bad fit?
Ask what the exam or X-ray showed. Then ask why those results support this procedure instead of another choice.
Describe the stairs, driving and lifting you must do. The recovery directions need to fit those tasks.
Ask who answers calls if trouble starts after the visit. Get a phone number and office hours before leaving.
Ask again whenever an answer isn't clear. Before agreeing, you need to know what will happen.

The OARSI non-surgical management guideline evaluated 60 interventions with GRADE methodology and built its recommendations around core treatments - structured exercise, weight management and self-management education - for every patient with knee osteoarthritis, regardless of what else is added.

A systematic review of 21 studies re-examining the familiar '20 percent are dissatisfied after knee replacement' figure found the actual average dissatisfaction rate was 10 percent, and 7.3 percent when complications were excluded - the surgical benchmark a cash-pay injection is implicitly competing against.

A retrospective comparison of 523 bone marrow aspiration procedures against 435 open iliac crest bone graft harvests found aspiration significantly reduced complications - relevant because marrow aspiration for a joint injection is a real procedure with a real, if low, complication rate.

FDA states in its consumer alert that the only FDA-approved stem cell products in the United States are blood-forming stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood, approved for disorders of the blood-forming system, and that NONE of these products - stem cells, stromal vascular fraction, umbilical cord blood, Wharton's jelly or amniotic fluid - has been approved for the treatment of any orthopedic condition, including osteoarthritis, tendonitis, disc disease, tennis elbow, back pain, hip pain, knee pain, neck pain or shoulder pain.

What if the soreness doesn't settle?
QC Kinetix offers consultations about regenerative treatments, meaning procedures where blood is drawn, spun and placed near the sore joint through a needle. They don't involve surgery.
A medical provider, one of the licensed clinic staff who handle your care, carries out these steps at the clinic. Ask that person to show you exactly where the liquid will go.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is made by spinning a little of your blood so platelets, tiny parts that help stop bleeding, gather in the pale liquid. Ask which sore area will receive it.
Your first consultation has no charge. The clinic doesn't promise a result.
